Sleep totals at

The day's...err, night's total...

I headed for bed at 1:29 in the morning, so let's just assume I actually made that goal and was asleep by 1:45 a.m.

At roughly 2:20 the dogs woke me up, then at 2:26 dad woke me up, just about an hour after I had went to bed. He needed a pillow under his knee. Task taken care of and I went back to sleep.

At 4:11 dad woke me up because he was cold. Blankets had been tugged off his left side and the house heater had gone off - was 68 degrees F in the house. I sent the 4:11 text message when I was restarting the heater, so was actually around 4:07 when I was woke up. Got back to beds at 4:17, approximately 10 minutes after I was woke.

4:25 a.m., dad woke me up asking to get in his recliner. I normally would have given in and helped him up into his recliner, but he has an appointment for a hearing test tomorrow so I told him it was the middle of the night and got grouched at for a bit before he was snoring again.

4:40 - dad woke me because his blankets needed to be put back in place.

I actually got a good long sleep at this point, was not woke back up until 6:23 when dad wanted to know if it was time to get up yet. No. It's not time to get up yet.

7:03 once again, wanting to know if it was time to get up yet. Nope, not yet.

7:25 woke up to see if it was time to get up yet. Not yet.

8:24 it's like a little kid on a long car ride. Are we there yet? No, not yet. I told dad it was not yet time to get up and covered him back up and then went back to bed at 8:24 to see what sleep I could still get in.

9:01 - alarm went off and I started wondering what moron set it for 9am... oh yeah... me. I really don't have to be up until 11 though, so I reset the alarm for 10:30.

9:32 I have no idea what woke me, but I was not staying awake to find out. Back to sleep.

10:17 I give up. Dad woke me, I wanted to cry but instead told him to sit up - which somehow resulted in me getting growled at that he was sitting up (he was just starting to push himself upright). Helped him up and got him pills, coffee and a cigarette. Now to start getting ready for the day.

And I hear dad snoring from his recliner... he's back asleep. ::pounds head on desk::

Totals:

6 hours 53 minutes total of sleep combined
Longest sleep period was 1 hour 40 minutes
Woken up a total of 11 times during the night

To sleep, perchance to dream.

A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book.
~ Irish Proverb

Sleep is a symptom of caffeine deprivation.
~Author Unknown

I'm not asleep... but that doesn't mean I'm awake.
~Author Unknown

How do people go to sleep? I'm afraid I've lost the knack.
~Dorothy Parker

The feeling of sleepiness when you are not in bed, and can't get there, is the meanest feeling in the world.
~Edgar Watson Howe

The days are cold, the nights are long,
The North wind sings a doleful song;
Then hush again upon my breast;
All merry things are now at rest,
Save thee, my pretty love!
~Dorothy Wordsworth,
"The Cottager to Her Infant"

Even thus last night, and two nights more I lay,
And could not win thee, Sleep, by any stealth:
So do not let me wear to-night away.
Without thee what is all the morning's wealth?
Come, blessed barrier between day and day,
Dear mother of fresh thoughts and joyous health!
~William Wordsworth, "To Sleep"
